Conservation Efforts in the Tiligul Estuary: Recent Discoveries
On April 3, 2025, a combined patrol involving an environmental inspector and border service representatives took place in the Tiligul Regional Landscape Park, near the village of Tanivka. This was reported by the Southern-Western District's Environmental Inspection.
During the inspection, 13 abandoned shrimp nets totaling 11 meters in length were discovered in the Tiligul Estuary. Illegal fishing gear was confiscated. Due to prompt actions, the lives of aquatic residents were saved: 3 kg of shrimp, 2 kg of gobies, and 2 kg of atherina were returned to the water.
"Conservationists urge citizens not to remain indifferent and to report instances of poaching to help preserve the unique nature of the Odesa region" - the statement reads.
