Court Proceedings for Illegal Use of Protected Lands
A court will hear the case of a resident of the Odessa region who illegally occupied land within a national park. The man built a gazebo for recreation directly on protected land of the Lower Dniester National Park. Police documented the violation, and now the fisherman faces up to two years of imprisonment.

A resident of the Odessa region is facing trial for the illegal occupation of protected land. The man constructed a gazebo for recreation in the territory of the Lower Dniester National Park. Police recorded the violation, and now the fisherman faces up to two years in prison.

Built a gazebo in the national park
According to law enforcement, in the Yaskiv community, a 62-year-old man illegally occupied a plot of land by the Dniester River — right on the territory of the nature reserve. He set up a fishing area with a gazebo without any permissions.
During the investigation, it was determined that the man seized 33.21 m² of land that belongs to the Lower Dniester National Nature Park.
"The man used part of the state natural park for personal leisure purposes. He had no permits for this," said investigator Daria Stotska.
It is known that the land seized by the man is of state significance and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
What punishment for illegal land occupation
Currently, the preliminary investigation against the offender has been completed, and the indictment has already been sent to court. The individual has been charged with the illegal occupation of a land plot concerning particularly valuable lands. Under Part 2 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces up to two years of imprisonment.
