Current Status of Spring Crop Planting in Ukraine as of Early April

As of April 4, farmers across all regions of Ukraine have sown 926 thousand hectares of spring grains and legumes, and the planting of sunflowers has commenced.

This information was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

According to the department, the largest area is allocated for barley — 551.8 thousand hectares. Winter wheat has been sown on 116.5 thousand hectares, peas — 164.3 thousand hectares, and oats — 82.3 thousand hectares.

The leading regions in sowing rates are:

Odessa region: 92.3 thousand hectares (wheat — 5.8 thousand hectares, barley — 30.1 thousand hectares, peas — 51.9 thousand hectares, oats — 1.3 thousand hectares);

Ternopil region: 87.4 thousand hectares (wheat — 14 thousand hectares, barley — 63.8 thousand hectares, peas — 4.1 thousand hectares, oats — 5.1 thousand hectares);

Poltava region: 83.2 thousand hectares (wheat — 4.2 thousand hectares, barley — 66.5 thousand hectares, peas — 9.4 thousand hectares, oats — 3.1 thousand hectares);

Mykolaiv region: 73.6 thousand hectares (wheat — 4.5 thousand hectares, barley — 42 thousand hectares, peas — 26.5 thousand hectares, oats — 0.6 thousand hectares);

Vinnytsia region: 72.6 thousand hectares (wheat — 11.5 thousand hectares, barley — 53 thousand hectares, peas — 7 thousand hectares, oats — 1.1 thousand hectares).

Additionally, sunflowers have been planted on 33 thousand hectares, sugar beets on 64.8 thousand hectares, and soybeans on 2.6 thousand hectares.

Reminder:

For 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grains and legumes, which corresponds to the level of 2024.
