New Stamp Series: Lighthouses of Ukraine
Ukrpost has announced the release of a new set of stamps featuring lighthouses of the Black and Azov Seas, including those located in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
This set is part of the "Lighthouses of Ukraine" series initiated in 2009, as reported by the company.
The release of this year's stamps coincides with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the State Hydrographic Service – the government agency responsible for maintaining Ukrainian lighthouses.
"This time, the postage stamps will tell the stories of the lighthouses of the Black and Azov Seas, as well as the Crimean lighthouses that, while temporarily occupied, continue to be an integral part of Ukraine in the hearts of its people", the Ukrpost representatives explained.
The set features:
- the lighthouses of Ai-Todor and Chaudin in Crimea;
- the Shagan lighthouse in Odesa;
- the Bilosaray and Berdyansk Upper lighthouses in the Sea of Azov;
- the Ruski Zadni lighthouse, or the Buzko-Dniprovsky-Liman canal lighthouse, in Mykolaiv region.
