Ex-Police Officer Sentenced to 5 Years in Odesa for Justifying Aggression

24 March 2025

An ex-police officer in Odesa has received a 5-year sentence for justifying Russia's aggression.

The Odesa regional prosecutor's office announced that under public prosecution, the woman was found guilty of distributing materials that justified Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014. The court sentenced her to 5 years in prison.

"Prosecutors proved that while serving as an investigator in a police department in Odesa, the woman openly expressed dissatisfaction with the current government and supported the actions of the occupiers. Through her Instagram account, which had over 7,000 followers, she distributed materials that denied and justified Russia's aggression that started in 2014. To conceal her activities, she used special software to mask her IP address.

During the trial, the defendant did not admit her guilt. She awaited the court's verdict in custody," the statement said.
