Collaboration with Germany to Support Individuals with Disabilities
On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a delegation from the Odesa region met with Mr. Arne Frankenstein, the State Commissioner for Disability Affairs of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential collaboration to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. They reached preliminary agreements on exchanging experiences in promoting inclusion and accessibility across various sectors. Special attention was given to training social work professionals and creating innovative barrier-free spaces for all population categories.
The German side shared valuable insights and experiences in addressing pretrial conflicts that arise due to discrimination against individuals with disabilities.
Additionally, we received assurances of support in finding partners to provide specialized vehicles for transporting individuals with disabilities in the Odesa region, which is extremely important for our area.
We sincerely thank Mr. Arne Frankenstein and the German side for their openness to collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the desire to work together to create a more inclusive and just society.
