Odessa and France: A Partnership for Progress

30 October 2024

The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, met with a French delegation led by the president of the Architecture et Maîtres d'Ouvrage Association, Mr. Martin Duplantier, head of a renowned architectural firm.

During the discussions, the parties explored potential collaborative projects, particularly in the medical, educational, and cultural heritage sectors.

"France has long been a friend to Odessa, and we are committed to supporting Ukraine during this war, as well as exploring further partnerships and investments in Odessa, particularly today in restoration projects," said Mr. Duplantier.

Gennady Trukhanov expressed gratitude for the attention given to the city, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the care and development of children.

"Unfortunately, the number of children requiring special attention is increasing. Therefore, we need to establish a facility where children with disabilities and special educational needs can receive medical care and education. Our team of educational and medical specialists has developed relevant proposals outlined in the 'Swallow' project," the mayor noted.

Mr. Duplantier expressed confidence that collaboration with the French government and various European Union institutions will yield grant programs to implement this significant project.
