Fare Increase in Odesa: New Transportation Rates
Between 2022 and 2024, many cities in Ukraine have experienced fare increases in public electric transport despite the ongoing state of war.
The current fares in Odesa have been unchanged since 2021, as set by the local council's decision.
Changes in 2022 led to rising costs for spare parts and materials, necessitating a review of the existing transport fares.
The municipal enterprise «OMET» has recalculated the fares in accordance with the established regulations by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The new calculations indicate a fare of 17.69 UAH per passenger, with a cost of 130.732 UAH per kilometer, and 16.93 UAH for the funicular.
The Department of Economic Development confirmed that the calculations comply with current legislation.
In order to ensure proper quality of passenger transport services, a new fare of 15.00 UAH for single rides will be implemented.
Additionally, existing discounts for students and pupils will remain in place: the fare for pupils will be 2.00 UAH, for students - 4.00 UAH, and for the general public - 7.00 UAH.
The fare increases are expected to take effect on December 1, 2024.
Furthermore, starting December 1, the fare for city transport is set to rise to 20 UAH and 40 UAH for journeys up to the 6th km of Ovidiopol Road.
