Google Enhances Tools for Personal Data Protection

Google has unveiled updates to several of its tools, including «Results About You» and the option to remove undesirable images from its search engine.

According to The Tech Crunch, the «Results About You» tool allows users to remove search results that contain personal information such as phone numbers and email addresses. Now, it can also be used to request the removal of information related to driver's licenses or passports.

Users can access this tool in the Google app by tapping their Google account picture and selecting «Results About You». New users will need to hit «Get Started» and input their personal contact details. Following this, they can add their identification numbers.

Once confirmed, Google will automatically monitor search results and notify users if it finds information matching their input. It is important to note that removing this information from search results does not erase it from the internet entirely, but it can help enhance privacy.

The update will initially roll out in the United States over the coming days, with plans to extend it to other regions.

Additionally, Google has simplified the process for submitting requests to remove unwanted explicit images. Users can now simply click on the three dots next to an image, select «Remove Result», and then indicate that «This image is explicit». Moreover, users can submit requests for multiple images at once, making the process more efficient.
