Preparing Odesa's Greenery for Winter
Employees of the Municipal Enterprise «Miskzelentrest» have started preparing the city's greenery for the upcoming autumn-winter period.
According to the approved plan, this fall, 380 young trees, including planes, catalpas, birches, acacias, sophoras, and kelreiterias, will be planted in Odesa. All trees are 8-10 years old and have been grown specifically for urban planting.
Additionally, 1500 shrubs and 3000 units of miscanthus (a perennial grass) are scheduled for planting.
The planting work is expected to begin in the second half of October.
Starting from November, the enterprise will begin winterizing its irrigation systems. In total, there are approximately 50 irrigation systems under the management of «Miskzelentrest» located in various parts of the city, including parks and squares.
Work has also commenced to prepare the greenhouse facility «Troyanda» for winter. The greenhouses operate year-round, and starting in September, preparations for the next year begin.
On an area of 4,000 square meters, work on greenhouse insulation and seed preparation for the next year is already underway. Annually, around 1 million plants are grown in the greenhouses, including 250,000 spring flowers and 11,000 ornamental leafy trees.
