New Well Facility Opens in Odessa After Renovation

09 October 2024

On October 7, 2024, following extensive renovations, the Municipal Enterprise «Service Center» officially reopened the well facility located on Krymsky Boulevard.

The construction of this well facility began back in 2002. Today, the well on Krymsky Boulevard serves as the sole source of water for a large number of residents in the Peresyp district of Odessa, providing about 12-14 cubic meters daily (operating from 08:00 to 20:00).

The well was closed for extensive renovations on December 1, 2023.

In early March this year, to ensure residents had access to free drinking water, a temporary water distribution point was established outside the well facility. This setup remained in place until October 8.

According to the Municipal Enterprise «Service Center», renovations included drilling a new artesian borehole, installing modern water treatment equipment, and laying new pipelines from the borehole to the facility. Technicians also carried out commissioning work with alternative power supply options.

During a meeting at the Peresyp District Administration in March, residents positively evaluated and supported the initiative to construct another well in the Peresyp district, specifically in the park area near the «Zoryany» cinema. Construction has already begun.

This new well will not only provide clean drinking water but will also serve as an essential backup water supply in case of emergencies during wartime.
