Odesa's Public Water Fountains: Ensuring Clean Water Access

In Odesa, there are 17 public water fountains equipped with wells ranging from 80 to 120 meters deep. All of them are managed by the municipal enterprise «Service Center». The water from these wells is freely available to everyone.

Daily, the staff responsible for maintaining the fountains start their work by preparing the equipment for dispensing drinking water to the residents. They also tidy up the areas surrounding the fountains.

The municipal workers carry out various tasks:

• disinfection of the water dispensing taps;
• sanitary cleaning of the water dispensing areas and the surrounding zones;
• cleaning the adjacent territories;
• systematic clearing of the roofs of the fountain buildings from fallen leaves and debris.

According to the agreement between the «Service Center» and the State Institution «Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine», the quality analysis of the artesian water in the fountains is performed once a month.
