Increase in Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Cases in Odesa Region

28 November 2025

As the heating season begins, there is a noted increase in carbon monoxide poisoning cases in the Odesa region.
According to the press service of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa, a man born in 1980 and a teenager born in 2011 were hospitalized in the village of Plakhtiivka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, showing signs of poisoning. No fire or burning was detected in the house. The poisoning was caused by a leak of carbon monoxide due to a lack of draft in the heating stove. Therefore, specialists urge residents to carefully monitor the condition of their heating systems.
