Fatal Car Accident in Odesa: Passenger Loses Life

On the evening of February 11, a fatal car accident occurred in Odesa on Ivan Funtovyi Street. A 29-year-old driver of a «Toyota» lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a power pole, leading to the death of a 31-year-old passenger, while the driver was hospitalized with injuries.

According to the head of the transport crime investigation department, Dmytro Slyuta, it has been preliminarily established that the driver failed to manage the vehicle. Unfortunately, the passenger succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was tested for alcohol consumption – he was found to be sober.

The investigators have recorded this case in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violations of traffic safety rules that resulted in the death of the victim. A series of forensic examinations have been appointed as part of the investigation to determine all circumstances of the event. Investigative actions are ongoing.
