Upgrading Rainwater Drainage Systems in Odessa
The municipal enterprise «City Roads» is continually engaged in maintaining rainwater drainage systems to ensure their proper state in Odessa.
Specialists carry out repairs and cleaning of stormwater systems, grates, wells, and hydraulic structures from debris, leaves, and silt.
Scheduled maintenance of rainwater drainage systems is carried out throughout the city. During heavy rainfall, the municipal workers respond promptly, clearing grates of debris that obstruct the normal flow of water.
In the past 11 months, the enterprise's employees have accomplished a significant volume of work: cleaning of gutters – 16,887 m, storm drains – 4,374, collectors – 5,273 m, and flushing of pipes – 23,999 m.
Additionally, grass cutting and area cleaning around hydraulic structures, including the Buffer Pond, have been conducted.
The cleaning of rainwater drainage systems is performed both manually and using specialized machinery, including excavators and hydraulic installations.
The specialists also repair wells, replace components, and raise grates to the required level.
Since the beginning of 2024, 58 new grates have been installed, and 34 storm drains have been repaired.
During operation, grates may sink, so municipal workers regularly address their elevation and repair.
Since the start of the year, 96 sunken grates have been raised, 8 wells have been repaired, and cover slabs have been installed.
Moreover, 45 m of collectors have been repaired, and 1,081 cubic meters of rainwater have been pumped from the roadway.
