Arson Arrest in Odessa: Suspect Detained

Odessa police quickly identified and arrested an individual responsible for setting fire to cars in an underground parking lot in the Arcadia area. The perpetrator was caught on the same day. He faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

A few days ago, during the curfew, a man entered the parking garage of a residential building, doused two BMW cars belonging to a local woman with gasoline, and set them on fire. The flames quickly spread to nearby parked BMW and Hyundai vehicles belonging to local men. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Authorities established that the crime was committed by a 27-year-old resident of Mykolaiv. He was arrested when he was attempting to return home by minibus. He has been charged with willfully damaging someone else's property through arson. The court has remanded him in custody with an option for bail set at 908,400 UAH. He faces imprisonment of up to 10 years.
