Restoration of Historical Doors in Odesa

23 October 2025

The grand doors at 13 Lermontovskiy Lane in Odesa have reopened, echoing their splendor from over a century ago, thanks to the artisans of the project «Thousand Doors».
This building was constructed in 1899 by architects Ya. Tarnopolsky and K. Popov for merchant Yevgeny Nikolaev. Following a fire in 1903, the structure was restored and later a fourth floor was added.
Today, it stands as a local architectural landmark, preserving the history of Odesa's residents, educators, and engineers. The doors have regained their original appearance.
Each restored element is a testament to fine carpentry.
For this project, artisans recreated authentic bolts, partially restored metal grilles, and integrated a modern electric lock and closer, ensuring the doors are both convenient and secure.
The wood surface is protected by Italian stain and Danish oil, preserving the texture and natural shine of larch.
