Enhancing Urban Green Spaces: Achievements and Future Plans

03 January 2025

Every day, around 180 employees of the municipal enterprise 'Miskzelentrest' work on the streets of our city. They are responsible for keeping green areas clean, caring for trees and flowers, and managing the aftermath of natural disasters.

Since the beginning of the year, the specialists have pruned 81,187 rose bushes and conducted formative pruning of 464 decorative weeping trees.

In the areas under the enterprise's jurisdiction, grass seeds have been sown over 18,723 sq. m, and flower beds covering 164,183 sq. m have been weeded. Additionally, 2,519 dry branches have been removed, and waste has been cleared from an area of 42,988 hectares.

As is tradition, with the arrival of spring, the gardeners of 'Miskzelentrest' begin work on creating new floral compositions. This year, 2,880 sq. m of spring flower beds were planted, consisting of various plants. Once the spring flowers have faded, they are replaced with summer flowers, resulting in 4,117 sq. m of summer flower beds.

Last summer, the city was also adorned with 88 vertical flower arrangements.

All plants for the flower beds are grown in-house at the 'Rose' greenhouses.

Moreover, 'Miskzelentrest' continues its efforts to green streets, parks, and squares. In 2024, 3,246 trees were planted, including 3,102 deciduous and 144 coniferous trees.

The planting of trees occurred in all city districts, with all newly planted trees being over 10 years old, increasing their chances of survival.

The enterprise also conducts maintenance and repairs of park furniture, children's and sports playgrounds.

To maintain the health of urban greenery, employees regularly remove advertising signs placed on trees, which can harm the plants.
