Establishment of a Memorial for Fallen Soldiers
In Odessa, work is ongoing to create a memorial for fallen soldiers at one of the city's cemeteries.
During a recent meeting with the families of fallen heroes and veteran organizations, three designs for headstones were selected, each with two variations.
Samples of materials for their construction, such as granite and sandstone, were also presented. A broad discussion with the families of servicemen will follow.
“The mayor's position is clear: families of the fallen heroes must have a key voice in this process — they will determine through voting which option best meets their expectations and memories of their loved ones,” emphasized Deputy Mayor of Odessa, Pavlo Vugelman.
In addition to the memorial theme, social issues related to supporting the families of the fallen were also discussed at the meeting.
The program of events for the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, which will be celebrated on October 1, was also reviewed.
Among the planned activities are memorial ceremonies, meetings with veterans, educational initiatives, and cultural events aimed at uniting the community around remembrance, gratitude, and shared responsibility.
