Odessa International Film Festival: New Horizons

The 16th Odessa International Film Festival is preparing two exciting programs for its audience: "Festival of Festivals" and "Ukrainian Film Festival." These programs will feature both global and Ukrainian cinema addressing pressing contemporary issues such as freedom, memory, human relationships, and global challenges.

This was announced by the press service of the Odessa International Film Festival.

Festival Programs

The "Festival of Festivals" program will showcase films from various countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, and the USA. Viewers will experience dramatic stories about human trauma, the fragility of trust, the struggle with the past, and attempts to find hope. Among the films are "The Ceremony," "Loneliness Evenings," "Sicilian Letters," "The Choir Master," and others that have already received acclaim at festivals in Venice, Cannes, San Sebastián, and Karlovy Vary.

The "Ukrainian Film Festival" program will unite new works by Ukrainian directors. Notable films include "Queens of Joy" about the LGBTQ+ community's struggles during the war, "Bartka" addressing ecological challenges in the Carpathians, and "Antarctica: War Diaries," showcasing the expedition of Ukrainian scientists during Russia's invasion.

Organizers emphasize that all the films share a common trait: they tackle global issues through personal stories that resonate with everyone.

Where It Will Be Held

This year, the 16th Odessa International Film Festival (OIFF) will take place in Kyiv from September 24 to October 4, 2025. The event was moved from Odessa due to the full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine.
