New Memorial for Heroes in Izmail
A new stand featuring portraits of fallen heroes has been set up in Izmail's Victory Square – a temporary memorial until the completion of the Glory Alley.
On July 16, a new informational stand with portraits of fallen heroes appeared in Victory Square, a decision made by the executive committee during the construction of the memorial complex 'Glory Alley', reports Bessarabia INFORM.
Next to the stand, 22 flagpoles are planned to be erected – each symbolizing the military unit in which the fallen defenders served. The stand displays portraits not only of soldiers from Izmail but also of fighters from other communities whose families submitted the necessary requests.
Military serviceman Oleg Dyachenko noted that the idea for creating this space arose from the desire to unite the families of the fallen and missing, as well as to provide residents with the opportunity to pay their respects.
“Here we hold a moment of silence. The city council listened to us, and we reached mutual understanding. Now people come to the city and see our heroes. This is very important. Of course, we want each soldier to have a separate banner with information about the fallen; we insisted on that,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, work on creating a complete Glory Alley with large portraits of the heroes continues.
