Photo Contest «Wiki Loves Earth 2025»

From July 1 to July 31, 2025, an international photo contest «Wiki Loves Earth» will take place.

We invite all photographers, both amateurs and professionals, to participate and present their works that illustrate the natural wonders of our country for Wikipedia.

The main goal of the contest is to showcase the natural beauty of Ukraine, filling in the visual gaps of parks and reserves.

About the Contest

• The «Wiki Loves Earth» photo contest started in Ukraine in 2013 and has become an international event. This year, it will be held for the twelfth time, uniting thousands of participants.
• There are approximately 9,000 registered nature conservation sites in Ukraine. Over the years, participants have uploaded more than 115,000 photos, yet 40% of sites still lack images in Wikimedia Commons. This is an excellent opportunity for residents of Odesa to showcase the natural treasures of the region.

Participation Conditions for 2025

In light of the security situation, restrictions on the dates for photo creation have been set:

• Regular photos — taken until May 31, 2025 (inclusive).
• Aerial photos — taken until February 23, 2022 (inclusive).

Nominations and Awards

The contest will traditionally have two main nominations:

• Quantitative: prizes will be awarded to participants who photograph the largest number of unique natural sites.
• Qualitative: a professional jury will select the best photographs from each region, and later determine the top 10 photos of Ukraine.

Additionally, there will be special nominations:

• «Video»: for video materials about natural sites.
• «Loss of Nature»: a special nomination in partnership with the NGO «Ecodia», dedicated to documenting damage caused to nature reserves due to aggression, natural disasters, or human impact.

The best photographers will receive valuable prizes from the organizer, the NGO «Wikimedia Ukraine», and the top 15 works will represent Ukraine at the international stage of the contest.
