Beware of Scammers on Telegram: How to Protect Your Funds

03 July 2025

Scammers are employing deceptive tactics to lure users into fake Telegram bots with the intent to steal their money.

How does this scheme work?

  • Criminals create bots that closely resemble official bank and institution chatbots. They replicate logos, descriptions, and other elements.
  • They use grammatical tricks: making slight variations to the names of banks and institutions so users may not notice the switch.
  • Fake verification signs: through premium subscriptions on Telegram, scammers add stickers that mimic an official account status.
  • They send messages about financial assistance or winnings, urging users to visit a counterfeit Telegram bot to apply.
  • On the fraudulent site, users are prompted to enter payment card details, bank codes, and passwords, leading to theft from their accounts.

How can you protect yourself?

  • Prefer other communication channels with banks and institutions: official website, phone number, mobile application.
  • If you need to use a chatbot, find the link on the official website or in the bank's app. Do not apply for financial assistance through the chatbot.
