New Records Set by Ukrainian MAGURA Drones

02 July 2025

For the first time in history — five significant records of the MAGURA drones have been documented in the Book of Records of Ukraine.

 Representatives of the Book of Records of Ukraine officially confirmed five military achievements made possible by MAGURA drones, presenting certificates to the Main Intelligence Directorate.

  • first in the world sinking of military ships by drones;
  • first downing of a military aircraft by a drone;
  • first destruction of an aerial target by a drone;
  • largest number of strikes on military vessels: from 2023 to 2024, the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine struck 15 units of the Russian Black Sea fleet;
  • largest number of sunk ships.

The official record registration took place at the Museum of Military Intelligence of Ukraine, where an exhibition dedicated to MAGURA drones has opened.

Representatives of the Book of Records presented certificates to General-Lieutenant Kyrylo Budanov, head of GUR, the head of the drone systems department, and to the soldiers of the “Group 13” unit executing the maritime operations with the drones.

“We have been observing the development of MAGURA and can confidently state that these achievements are unique. They prove that Ukraine is capable of innovation even under challenging conditions,” — stated Andriy Masyuk, a representative of the Book of Records of Ukraine.

 General-Lieutenant Kyrylo Budanov thanked the Book of Records and emphasized the effectiveness of MAGURA.

“Every sunk ship — this is a step towards our victory. I want to thank Group 13 for their work. Their professionalism allows us to achieve such results,” — added Budanov.

The commander of “Group 13”, with the call sign “Thirteenth”, expressed gratitude to Ukrainian engineers for their ingenuity.

“I want to thank all the commanders who supported the initiative. We are fighting against a resource-rich state, so any support is especially valuable. We sincerely thank everyone — particularly the Book of Records — for this recognition and trust,” — emphasized Thirteenth.

Military security expert Mykhailo Honchar also attended the ceremony.

“MAGURA drones have already set records for combat effectiveness in water and air. I wish the GUR that the next record will be underwater since Russian submarines are already waiting to meet Ukrainian drones,” — said Honchar.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of GUR, highlighted the strategic importance of the established achievements.

“The records established are proof of how Ukraine is changing the military history of the world, demonstrating that innovation and courage are stronger than any enemy numbers,” — said Yusov.
