Disappearing Birds: The Features of the Meadow Pipit

14 May 2025

This was shared by a staff member of the National Park, ornithologist Alex Koval.

According to him, these birds typically inhabit wide, muddy shores of lagoons and salt marshes, seeking cozy spots for nesting.

Their flight is characterized by grace and speed, making them stand out among other birds. The meadow pipit primarily hunts for food while soaring in the air.

Due to environmental changes, the population of meadow pipits is significantly declining across Europe, the expert noted.

He also emphasized that meadow pipits, as a rare species, are protected under the Red Book of Ukraine and various international agreements for bird conservation.
