Completion of Bridge Repairs in Odessa Region

The repair of the bridge connecting the ports of Izmail and Kiliya in the Odessa region is nearing completion.

This was announced by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

Specialists have finished laying the top layer of asphalt on the bridge structure and its approaches.

Currently, road signs are being installed, shoulders are being reinforced, and the bridge is being painted. After this, grass will be sown on the slopes and road markings will be applied.

The bridge over the Kofa Canal on the T-16-07 road Izmail – Kiliya – Vilkove is of significant logistical importance: it connects the Izmail and Kiliya river ports and four communities of the Izmail district.

“Thanks to the capital repair of the bridge, the movement of civilian vehicles, ambulances, school buses, emergency services, and freight transport will be accelerated,” the agency states.

The bridge over the Kofa Canal was built in the 1960s and is located on the national road T-16-07 Izmail – Kiliya – Vilkove. In 2021, it was declared emergency and closed after a hole formed in the middle, causing the entire structure to shift.
