New Development for Odesa: Humanitarian Buses Approved
Dear residents of Odesa!
At last, after a long wait, the Parliament has approved an important legislation on humanitarian buses.
This initiative was launched by me in the spring of last year. The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development quickly prepared the legislative proposal, which received support from the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
What does this mean for Odesa and other Ukrainian communities that have previously received buses from international partners?
In total, this involves over 350 buses — spacious, comfortable, and environmentally friendly, designed to accommodate people with disabilities. For the Odesa community, this means twenty modern Mercedes buses that our sister cities donated in 2024, but due to legal restrictions, they have remained idle in the fleet of «Odesmiskelektrotrans».
Next, the Cabinet of Ministers must develop the usage guidelines for these humanitarian buses. This will allow us to legally register the vehicles with our municipal enterprise and put them into city routes.
We will also work on recruiting and training qualified drivers to ensure quality and safety for Odesa residents during transport.
Let’s keep moving forward!
