Hearing Awareness Day Held in Odesa
Last week, medical facilities in Odesa hosted an event focused on the prevention and early detection of hearing disorders for both adults and children. This initiative was organized with the support of the Odesa City Council's Department of Health and the Odesa City Health Center.
All interested adults and children were able to undergo free preventive examinations and receive consultations from specialists. If necessary, referrals for audiometry were provided.
During the event, 426 individuals were screened for hearing issues, including 251 children. The examinations revealed 116 cases of hearing disorders, with 64 cases reported among children.
A total of 66 patients with identified hearing issues received referrals for audiometric testing. During the event, ENT specialists provided consultations and recommendations to all attendees.
Modern ENT equipment was purchased for Odesa's medical facilities using the city budget. Health professionals remind the public of the importance of regular hearing checks — at least once a year. It is also advised to consult a doctor if there is a sudden decrease in hearing.
Don't delay your visit to the doctor if you experience:
- ear pain or discharge;
- sudden hearing loss in one ear;
- concerns about your child's hearing.
