HIV Testing Access in Odesa Amidst the War
In spite of the ongoing war, Odesa is committed to providing residents and visitors with the opportunity for free HIV testing.
Testing is available at no cost in all hospitals, primary healthcare centers, diagnostic facilities, maternity wards, and women's clinics.
Anyone can find out their HIV status in just 15 minutes from a family doctor or in a hospital setting. Rapid HIV tests are funded through the City Health Program.
During the first nine months of 2025, 29,240 individuals underwent HIV testing in Odesa's medical institutions, leading to the identification of 268 new positive cases.
Patients with positive results are referred to the City Center for HIV Prevention and Treatment for further examination and free access to effective antiretroviral therapy, enabling those living with HIV to maintain a long and fulfilling life.
The organization of HIV testing in Odesa and the efforts of multidisciplinary teams have received high praise from both domestic and international experts.
