Tragedy at the Beach: How Traffic Blocks Rescue Efforts

14 July 2025

At the 16th station of the Great Fountain, medical personnel rushed to save a 14-year-old girl who had drowned and was in critical condition, unconscious. The road was blocked by parked cars, which delayed the arrival of help. This was reported by the Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine of the Odesa region.

Fortunately, another medic was present at the beach and began performing CPR while the emergency team navigated through the traffic.

After stabilizing the girl's condition, she needed urgent transport to the intensive care unit, but on the return trip, traffic was again obstructed.

The Emergency Medical Assistance Center of Odesa region emphasizes that such cases are not exceptions, but a systemic issue. Medical professionals urge drivers not to block the passage, especially near beaches and popular leisure areas.

«I ask you to remember emergency medical services and imagine for a moment that your loved ones could be in that vehicle: a husband, wife, or child,» noted emergency doctor Yelizaveta Churilova.
