Upgrades at Maternity Hospital in Odesa

03 September 2024

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting with representatives of the International Medical Corps.

In 2024, with the support of the International Medical Corps, a significant renovation of the shelter at Maternity Hospital No. 5 was completed, which included a full upgrade of the ventilation system, water supply, heating, and drainage systems.

The shelter is equipped with a complete set of medical equipment and a powerful oxygen concentrator for artificial lung ventilation.

Currently, all necessary conditions are in place for childbirth and providing medical assistance to mothers and newborns.

Additionally, the International Medical Corps renovated the basement areas to open a temporary shelter for residents of nearby buildings.

"I thank our partners for their support. On our part, we provided the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power supply, ensuring autonomous power for the shelter and the women's consultation office," emphasized Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Moreover, modern resuscitation equipment for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance were purchased from the city budget.

Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in providing obstetric care for premature births and intensive therapy for newborns with extremely low birth weights starting from 500 grams.
