Odessa and France Forge Healthcare Partnership

11 February 2025

Odessa and France have formalized a partnership in the healthcare sector. A contract was also signed to establish a Mental Health Center at one of the city's hospitals.

The impact of military actions has been profound, particularly on veterans and displaced persons. It is crucial to ensure access to quality psychological support for all city residents.

A working group is currently assessing the technical condition and infrastructure of medical facilities in Odessa. French doctors are expected to visit our hospitals to share their expertise and practical skills in the future.

«Our aim is to work with Expertise France to create conditions where everyone in need can receive timely assistance. Supporting mental health goes beyond treating illnesses; it encompasses prevention, education, and combating stigma. We strive to build a healthy community where everyone feels secure», - stated Gennady Trukhanov.

The Mayor of Odessa expressed gratitude to the French people and government for their attention to the city and invaluable support, highlighting the personal contribution of the French Embassy in Ukraine to the development of cooperation and city initiatives.

The memorandum was signed by Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov and Ms. Sofia Oliynyk, Director of Expertise France in Ukraine.

Also present at the signing were the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, Mr. Igor Kopach, and the head of the French Development Agency office in Ukraine, Ms. Axel Nos.

The memorandum outlines a comprehensive cooperation in healthcare, particularly addressing challenges in mental health, rehabilitation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
