New Initiative for Training IT Professionals in Ukraine

With the support of the government, a new initiative called «Kickstart Your IT Career» has been launched in Ukraine for training specialists in information technology.

This program was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on June 24, 2022, and outlines a new approach to organizing training in the IT sector.

Grant conditions – a graduate must secure employment within 30 calendar days after completing their training under the following conditions:
- signing an employment contract, gig contract, or similar;
- entering into a civil law contract for service provision;
- registering as a sole proprietor or conducting independent professional activities.

Who is the «Kickstart Your IT Career» program for?
The program is aimed at Ukrainian citizens (p.p.5, 9 of the Order) who:
- are on leave of absence;
- have suspended employment contracts;
- have been granted unpaid leave for an indefinite period;
- are internally displaced persons of working age;
- registered unemployed individuals entitled to social services for vocational training and retraining.

Who is not eligible for the «Kickstart Your IT Career» program?
The program does not apply to individuals (p.5 of the Order) who:
- lack professional or higher education;
- have less than 18 months of work experience;
- have specialized in IT or have work experience in the IT industry.

How to obtain a grant for IT training?
The training certificate is generated electronically on the "Diia Portal" after document verification by the Employment Center. To obtain the certificate, one must submit:
- an application;
- a resume;
- confirmation of the educational institution's readiness to train the individual;
- a copy of the employment record book;
- a copy of the education document (if available);
- a copy of the order confirming leave or suspension of the employment contract.

The certificate is valid for 10 working days from the date of issue, during which an agreement must be made with the educational institution.

The list of educational institutions and programs is approved by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The purpose of the program is to ensure the right to work and promote employment.
