Final of the National Championship in Information Technology

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in collaboration with the National Ecological and Naturalist Center of Student Youth, hosted an online final for the National Championship in Information Technology titled “Ecosoft” and the national stage of the international computer project competition INFOMATRIX-2024.

As a result of the national championship, the Ukrainian team for the international competition INFOMATRIX-2024 was formed, which will take place from May 31 to June 4, 2024, in Bucharest (Romania).

In the super final of the national competition, Odesa was represented by eight students from Odesa Lyceum No. 65, who showcased projects in programming, computer animation, 3D modeling, and short films. This was the debut competition for all participants.

At the national championship, the lyceum students earned one first-degree diploma, two second-degree diplomas, and three third-degree diplomas.

The winners and prizewinners who have the right to compete as part of the Ukrainian team in the final of the international competition INFOMATRIX-2024 are:

- Yegor Bovkun, a 10th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with a 3D project titled “Model of the First Helicopter in the World”;

- Ruslan Masko and Ivan Zmievsky, 8th-grade students from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with a film titled “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It”.

Students received assistance in preparing their projects from Oleg Pustovoyt and Alla Omelchenko, computer science teachers at Odesa Lyceum No. 65.

This year, the students of Odesa Lyceum No. 65 set a unique record, representing Ukraine as part of a project technology team at the international level eight times in a row. The unique experience of Odesa Lyceum No. 65 since 2016 has been invaluable for organizing national-level events. Teachers and alumni of the institution were among the organizers and included in the judging panel of the championship. The youngest judge of the competitions was 11th-grade student Yuliya Butuk, who has participated in and won three of the last world finals of INFOMATRIX. Also, computer science teacher Oleg Pustovoyt was appointed as one of the three curators for preparing the Ukrainian team for the international final.
