YouTube Launches New Automatic Video Dubbing Features

06 February 2026

YouTube has introduced a new automatic video dubbing feature powered by artificial intelligence, now available to all creators and supporting 27 languages, including Ukrainian.

This technology has been in development for several years, first showcased in 2023 to a limited group of creators, and in September 2025, it was made available to most channels.

The feature allows videos to be viewed in different languages, helping creators to reach a broader audience. YouTube emphasizes that the use of automatic dubbing does not negatively impact the algorithms for promoting original content; rather, it can enhance its visibility in other languages. Creators who prefer not to use AI dubbing can upload their own audio tracks or completely disable the feature.

Users can check the availability of additional languages via the "Audio Track" menu in the video settings.

YouTube acknowledges that the technology does not always accurately convey tone or emotions during dubbing. To address this issue, the company is launching an "Expressive Speech" feature available in eight languages: English, Hindi, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Additionally, the company is testing a Lip Sync feature that synchronizes lip movements with the translated audio to make the dubbed video appear more natural.

The settings also include a "Preferred Languages" option, allowing users to select the languages they want for video viewing. This choice applies to dubbed audio as well as localized titles and descriptions of videos. If the original is already available in one of the selected languages, YouTube will not apply AI dubbing and will play the original track.

YouTube has also implemented an automatic smart filtering system that determines when dubbing is inappropriate, such as in music videos or silent videos.
