National AI Hackathon: New Horizons for Ukraine

24 October 2025

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, in collaboration with EPAM Ukraine and WINWIN AI Center of Excellence, is launching the inaugural state hackathon dedicated to artificial intelligence – Diia.AI Contest. The primary goal is to unite engineers, scientists, and ethics experts in the use of AI to develop new solutions for public services.

Participants will tackle real-world challenges in integrating AI into the "Diia" application. Ten teams with the strongest projects will present their ideas on Demo Day, and the best solutions will be incorporated into "Diia".

“We generated hackathon task ideas based on user requests and needs for 'Diia'. During the hackathon, teams will work alongside mentors on AI solutions that will enhance service quality and may lay the groundwork for new functionalities in 'Diia', benefiting millions of Ukrainians,” says Danilo Tsyvok, Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.

The winners will also receive grants of up to $8,000 and mentoring from top experts at EPAM Ukraine. Engineers, scientists, and anyone with experience in developing AI solutions can participate, either as a team of 2-6 people or individually.

The hackathon will focus on three main areas:

  • AI for public services: developing smart assistants, navigating governmental services, and formulating requests based on user needs;
  • AI services for businesses: creating tools for automating reporting, legal support, and business operations;
  • AI for optimizing state processes: accelerating operational tasks, document analysis, and data verification.

The hackathon will take place from November 14 to 23 online, with the final Demo Day occurring offline in Kyiv on November 29. Details and registration can be found via the link until November 12 inclusive.
