The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Job Market

18 September 2025

According to OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman, artificial intelligence may lead to job losses in certain areas, such as phone and online support.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, he mentioned that AI could enhance programmers' capabilities and potentially raise their salaries.

Sam emphasized that there are fields, like nursing, where "human contact and deep connection" are essential.

He also pointed out that the demand for software development has surpassed what the market can supply. Altman refrained from making precise predictions for the next 5-10 years, noting that while some jobs may disappear, new ones will emerge. He recalled research indicating that half of all jobs transform every 75 years.

During the conversation with Tucker Carlson, they touched on topics such as religion, ethics, privacy, and the military use of ChatGPT. In response to a question about the appropriateness of using AI for life-and-death decisions, Sam compared AI to dual-use tools and stressed the importance of being aware of the consequences. He mentioned that the military is already actively using ChatGPT for advice in their operations.

As previously reported, OpenAI recently conducted a study showing who and how uses ChatGPT. According to the findings, the gender ratio of users has equalized over the past year, and AI is increasingly applied to everyday tasks.

One key finding of the study is that by June 2025, the share of non-work-related messages will rise to 73% compared to 53% the previous year. 75% of conversations with ChatGPT fall into three main categories: practical guidance, information search, and writing. Users most frequently seek practical advice, learning, and creative ideas.
