Meta's New Smart Glasses: What to Expect
Meta has unveiled new models of smart glasses in a video that has since been removed. According to UploadVR, the video appeared on the Ray-Ban channel. These devices are expected to be among the major announcements at the upcoming Meta Connect conference this week. The video revealed that the Ray-Ban Display glasses will feature a screen in the right lens. Various use scenarios were demonstrated, including navigation on a map, real-time translation, interaction with Meta AI, and composing messages. A wristband equipped with sEMG (surface electromyography) technology is designed for control, reading electrical signals from hand muscles, allowing users to 'write' text in the air or execute commands with gestures. The second model, Oakley Sphaera, boasts a sleek design with a camera at the bridge of the nose and is likely focused on capturing video and photos from the user's perspective. Meta is actively advancing in this field following the launch of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses in 2023, which enabled taking photos, videos, and using a voice assistant. Now, the company aims to integrate a display and enhanced interaction with Meta AI to make the glasses more versatile. The official presentation of the new devices is scheduled for the Meta Connect conference on September 17, 2025, hosted by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
