Nvidia Develops New AI Chip for Chinese Market

19 August 2025

The American tech company Nvidia is working on a new artificial intelligence chip designed for the Chinese market, expected to outperform the currently permitted H20 semiconductor in China.

This information was reported by Reuters, citing informed sources.

The new chip, tentatively named B30A, will feature a single-chip design, likely providing less computational power compared to the more complex dual-chip configuration of the flagship Nvidia B300 graphics card.

A single-chip design means that all key components of the integrated circuit are made on one solid piece of silicon rather than split across multiple chips.

The new chip will include high-speed memory and Nvidia NVLink technology for fast data transfer between processors. These features are also present in the H20 semiconductor, which is based on Nvidia's older Hopper architecture.

Specifications for the chip have not been finalized yet, but Nvidia hopes to provide samples to Chinese clients for testing next month.

“Everything we offer has full approval from the relevant authorities and is intended solely for profitable commercial use,” the company stated.

It is noted that Nvidia only received permission to resume sales of the H20 to China in July. This chip was developed specifically for China after export restrictions were introduced in 2023, but the US suddenly ordered the company to halt sales in April.
