Revolutionary Humanoid Robot for Carrying Human Fetuses
At the global robotics conference, Chinese firm Kaiwa Technology unveiled a humanoid robot capable of gestating a human fetus until birth. This information comes from the Interesting Engineering portal.
According to the company's founder, Dr. Zhang Qifen, the device will feature an artificial womb located within the humanoid's abdominal cavity, where the fetus will develop in a synthetic amniotic environment. Nutrients will be supplied through a specialized tube. Developers claim that the technology is already at a 'mature stage,' with the first model expected to launch in 2026. The estimated cost of the device is $14,000. The company positions the project as an alternative for couples or individuals looking to avoid biological pregnancy.
However, medical experts criticize the initiative for the lack of technical details, particularly concerning fertilization stages, embryo implantation, and childbirth processes. Concerns are also raised about the inability to replicate the mother's hormonal environment and the formation of an emotional bond with the child. Despite this criticism, some supporters of the idea view it as a potential way to avoid the stress and risks associated with pregnancy. Kaiwa Technology has reported that it is already in discussions with regulatory bodies regarding the legal aspects of implementing the project.
