Enhanced Features in Microsoft 365 with GPT-5
Microsoft has announced the integration of the new GPT-5 model from OpenAI into its Copilot assistant, which is utilized across Microsoft 365, GitHub, Azure AI Foundry, and mobile applications. The update is already available to users.
The Copilot now includes a Smart Mode that automatically selects the optimal model based on the complexity of the request. This feature allows for a balance between response speed and depth of information processing.
In Microsoft 365, Copilot has improved contextual understanding, its ability to engage in extended conversations, and the accuracy of responses. GitHub Copilot with GPT-5 is accessible via chatbot, VS Code, and mobile applications for paid users, and for organizations through policy settings.
In Azure AI Foundry, the new model is available through API with automatic configuration selection, support for multimodal scenarios, and extensive context handling. For standard Copilot users, GPT-5 is already available for free.
