YouTube Introduces New Co-Authoring Tool for Creators
YouTube has begun testing a new tool that enables content creators to add co-authors to their videos. According to Engadget, this feature resembles the collaborative posting mechanisms found in Instagram and TikTok, aimed at fostering mutual promotion among channels to different audiences.
Main authors will be able to specify other co-authors for their videos, with their names displayed alongside the main author's name on the channel page. In cases where there are numerous co-authors, the mobile version will show the phrase “...and others,” which will open a complete list of individuals with “Subscribe” buttons.
The process of adding a co-author to a video will likely be similar to that of Instagram and TikTok: the main content creator must send an invitation that the other author needs to approve. It is still unclear whether co-authors will have access to the video statistics visible to the main author.
A Google representative mentioned on the YouTube Help forum that the feature is currently available only to a limited number of users. YouTube plans to consider feedback from testers before making a decision on a broader rollout of the feature.
