Anticipating the Next Generation: GPT-5
OpenAI has announced that GPT-5 will be launched this summer. This new model integrates the best achievements of previous versions — the multimodality of GPT-4 and the logical capabilities of the "o" series. The company aims to create a universal model that will eliminate the need for switching between different versions, as reported by BleepingComputer.
Romain Yue, the head of the developer relations team at OpenAI, stated, "Our intention is not just to create a new flagship model but to consolidate our series into one coherent system".
He emphasized that GPT-5 will merge "breakthroughs in reasoning" with "advancements in multimodality".
Jerry Tworek, the company's vice president, added on Reddit that GPT-5 is designed to enhance all current model capabilities, making them more user-friendly without the need for switching.
The exact launch date has not yet been disclosed, but OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, previously hinted that the release is scheduled for summer 2025.
