The Future of Education: AI

Louis von Ahn, the founder of Duolingo, believes that artificial intelligence is already capable of significantly enhancing the learning process. In the future, AI will dominate educational institutions, while teachers will primarily serve as mentors and assistants. This is reported by Fortune.

Duolingo is actively integrating artificial intelligence into its platform. Recently, the company announced the end of its collaboration with humans for creating educational materials, relying instead on AI. Louis von Ahn states that 116 million users utilize the app each month, allowing for 16,000 A/B tests to refine learning methods.

According to von Ahn, schools will remain places for childcare, but education will mainly be conducted through AI. He points out that artificial intelligence can provide a more accurate assessment of a student's abilities and better tailor tasks than a teacher managing a classroom of thirty students.

Some educational institutions have already begun to implement artificial intelligence in their teaching processes. In the private Alpha School network in the USA, students learn for two hours a day using AI. Here, teachers, referred to as guides, do not focus on teaching or grading but provide emotional and motivational support. The school plans to open eight more branches, with tuition fees ranging from $40,000 to $65,000 per year.

Louis von Ahn believes that changes in the educational system will not happen overnight: "Like the government, education changes slowly".
