Transforming Video Meetings: Live Translation in Google Meet

At the Google I/O 2025 conference, Google unveiled a groundbreaking live translation feature for video meetings in Google Meet. Users will now benefit from real-time automatic translation from Spanish to English with minimal delay.

According to Google, this translation technology closely mimics natural conversation, as it conveys not just the content but also the tone, speech rhythm, and even the facial expressions of the speakers. This will greatly enhance the quality of international video meetings, allowing everyone to speak in their native language while artificial intelligence handles the complex tasks.

Until now, Meet users had to rely on live captions for translation, which required reading text during conversations. The new feature allows participants to focus entirely on communication without the need to glance at text prompts.

The feature is currently available in beta for subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans. It is expected to be available for corporate users later this year as part of early testing. Google also plans to expand support for additional languages in the coming weeks.
