Japanese Culture Celebration in Odessa
Odessa is hosting a celebration of Japanese culture to mark the 60th anniversary of its partnership with Yokohama.
The events include artistic and educational activities under the theme “Japan – the Land of the Rising Sun.” Participants can engage in discussions, art classes, workshops, creative exhibitions, animation screenings, and tea ceremonies to explore Japanese traditions.
Main activities will commence on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Passage, 1a).
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the richness of Japanese culture and learn about the development of friendly relations between our cities.
“Our relationship with Yokohama is a story of how, despite distance and differences in language and customs, cities can be close in spirit,” said Odessa’s Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled “Mystical Japan through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists” will take place in the hall of Odessa City Hall (Birzhevaya Square, 1).
This event is organized with support from the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky and the Municipal Institution “City Art Gallery.”
