Conference on Preserving Cultural Heritage in Odessa
On December 23, 2024, the gallery «#ARTODESSA» at the Summer Theater of the City Garden hosted the conference entitled «Odessa Collections».
The event gathered collectors, cultural experts, and local historians from Odessa.
The main goal of the conference was to revive the tradition of collecting in Odessa to foster collaboration in preserving Ukraine's cultural and historical heritage.
Participants discussed the future of private collection preservation, exhibition opportunities, museification, and cataloging. A significant aspect highlighted was the need for scientific research on collections.
Notable speakers included: Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kohricht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksymiuk, Oleksandr Friedman, Serhii Siedykh, Dmytro Khamula, Denys Mitskevych, Oleksandr Surylov, Yulia Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.
Following the conference, a publication on collecting titled «Universe Named Odessa» is in preparation.
The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odessa City Council.
