Valeriy Khait: A Tribute to the Great Satirist

On February 1, 2025, at the age of 85, we lost the renowned satirist Valeriy Isaakovich Khait. 

His life was deeply intertwined with Odessa, literature, and unique humor.

Valeriy Isaakovich, an acclaimed writer, journalist, playwright, and TV host, was well known as:
- Vice President of the World Club of Odessans since 1990; 
- one of the founders of the Odessa Humors Festival;
- editor-in-chief of the humorous magazine «Fontan» in Odessa;
- creator and host of the popular TV show «Fontan Club» on the 1+1 channel; 
- captain of the legendary KVN teams from Odessa; 
- a recipient of numerous literary awards and compiler of publications showcasing Odessa humor; 
- the initiator of the Odessa International Literary Prize named after Isaac Babel and the establishment of a monument to the writer.

The Odessa City Council extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the talented writer, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of Odessans.
