Cultural Exchange between Odesa and Vienna
This October, the Austrian capital will host a conference titled «Cultural Exchange», which will feature the festival «Odesa's Violin Melodies» on October 18.
This event was discussed in a meeting between Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and Mr. Thomas Resh, a referent for international cooperation in Vienna.
«It is important for us to showcase Ukrainian culture to the world. Most of the festival participants are students of the renowned Odesa School named after Stolyarsky. We are thrilled that the collaboration between Odesa and Vienna will result in such a wonderful cultural event,» said the mayor of Odesa.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed aspects of their collaboration, particularly Vienna's extensive experience working with UNESCO, since its historic center has been a part of the World Heritage List since 2001.
«We are pleased that our city has been chosen to host such an important conference and festival. We are ready to provide all necessary support for the organization,» noted Mr. Res.
Additionally, the Vienna side proposed conducting a joint round table to discuss the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the management of UNESCO sites using Vienna as a case study.
