Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov was a remarkable figure, an engineer, and a skilled mountaineer. A pass in the Eastern Pamirs and a peak at the junction of the Garmo and Vavilov glaciers bear his name. Besides mountaineering, he was passionately involved in collecting art objects throughout his life.

At the end of his life, he gifted his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was opened in Odessa, which has been named after O. V. Bleschunov since 1992.

This unique collection, consisting of over 10,000 items including world-class rarities, is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. To honor Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov's contributions to the city, a star was ceremoniously unveiled for him on the Odessa Walk of Fame on September 2, 2019.
